Bernie ~ William (Bill) Madison Childers, 82 of Bernie, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his residence in Bernie.

Bill, son of Eddie Lee and Irene Doris Moss Childers, was born on Thursday, June 8, 1939 in Limestone County, Alabama.

He was a farmer and worker at Purolator in Dexter for 30 years.  He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening and animals.

On April 3, 1957 in New Madrid, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mildred Louise McCarthy.  She preceded him in death on April 25, 1995.

His survivors include one daughter, Lorie Reed and husband, Dale of Bernie; two sons, Danny Childers and wife, Jenny of Bernie, Larry Childers of Campbell; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Childres of Vero Beach, Florida.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Childers, Terry Childers; one brother, Lawson Childers and one sister, Judy Mauldin.

Funeral service will at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell with Sister Jane Strickland officiating.  Burial will be in Elder Cemetery in Campbell, Missouri.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell will be in charge of the arrangements.
