William Charles
"Bill" Peterson
Dec 27, 1951 — Jul 4, 2025
Campbell - William Charles "Bill" Peterson was born on December 27, 1951 in Campbell, Missouri to Chester L Peterson and Helen M Goldsmith Peterson (both deceased). He passed away on July 4, 2025 of a stroke at the age of 73 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee surrounded by the love of his family.
Bill was a dedicated husband to Penny Dees Maddox since 1986. He was a devoted father of 7 children: Palisa Showmaker Huber (Ronny) of Campbell, Desi Showmaker Bean (Jason) of Holcomb, Bill Junior Peterson (Jennifer) of Campbell, Blinda Peterson Duncan (Gerry) of Kennett, John Daniel Maddox (deceased), Bruce Peterson (deceased), and Jessica Maddox Easterling (Travis) of Alabaster, Alabama. He taught them the importance of hard work and integrity. Bill was also an adored "Papaw" to 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished and loved deeply.
Bill began working for Noranda Aluminum in 1978 and retired in 2016 at the age of 64. Throughout his years of working at Noranda, he always maintained his cattle farming and hay baling. These activities continued to provide him with great pleasure after retirement as well. If it was daylight and he wasn't at the Express Foodshop in Campbell telling tales with his buddies, you could find him "monkeying around" with the cows and/or equipment.
Bill is survived by 5 siblings: Helen Harris of Malden, MO; James "Pete" Peterson of Dittmer, MO; Connie Hawley of Green Valley, AZ; Roy Peterson of Dittmer, MO; and Dan Peterson of Campbell, MO. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia "Pat" Laws.
Bill would generously lend a hand to his community members in need and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Visitations will begin for the family at 5 pm with the public visitation following from 6-8 pm on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, MO. His funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025 also at Landess Funeral Home with graveside service following at Woodlawn Cemetery Landess Addition.
