Vernitta "Vee" Elizabeth Cowell departed this life on Friday, July 7, 2023 at her residence in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

Vernitta was born on Friday, March 27, 1931 in Malden, Missouri to Jess Willis Harris and Alberta Matilda Williams Harris.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  On September 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Frank Cowell in Piggott, Arkansas.  He preceded her in death on February 17, 2012.  Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Violet Kimbrough and Lavern Stewart and four brothers, Thomas Harris, Glen Harris, Ronald Harris, and Kenneth Harris.

Her survivors include:  Two daughters and six sons, Michael Dean Cowell and wife Jeannie of New Mexico; Dot Richardson and husband Danny of Clarkton, Missouri; Thomas Lloyd Cowell of Malden, Missouri; Bruce Edward Cowell of Littleton, Colorado; Darrell Lee Cowell of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas; Nelda Sue Vandiver of Bushnell, Illinois; Derris Wray Cowell of Ash Flat, Arkansas; Travis Wayne Cowell and wife Kelly of Memphis, Tennessee; Grandchildren, Chad Cowell, Brad Cowell, Shelly, Kelly, Charles Richardson and wife Paula, David Richardson, Matthew Richardson, Billie Jean Borschnack, Julie Lancaster and husband Zack, Joseph Borschnack, Crystal Star Hinson, Candice, Amanda, Ashely, Cynthia, Suzann Abbott and husband Logan, Elizabeth Miller and husband Gabriel, Michael Cowell, and Shanna Cowell; and one brother, Carl "Tuffy" Harris of Panama City, Florida.  Several great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will begin at 12 PM Thursday, July 13, 2023 until service time at Landess Funeral Home and Crematory in Malden.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Rev. Charles Richardson officiating.

Interment will be in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.  Landess Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
