Malden ~ Verna Lee Spence, 65 of Malden, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at her residence in Malden, Missouri.

Verna, daughter of Kenneth and Elsie Fillpott Wheeler, was born on Sunday, September 9, 1956 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She worked for Whites and Associates Home Healthcare.

On October 26, 1975 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Spence.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 2020.

Her survivors include three sons, Jeff Spence and wife, Katie of St. Louis, Rick Spence of Dexter, Steven McClain and wife, Vanessa of St. Louis; one daughter, Tina Jones and husband, Brent of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Jacob Haney, Timothy Spence, Amber Spence, Tyler Spence, Donovan Spence, Charlotte McClain and Miles McClain; four great-grandchildren, Carter Spence, Payton Murdock, Judson Haney and Alayna Spence; three sisters, Vera Mitchell and Cheryl Koerber both of  Carrier Mills, Illinois, Flora Page of St. Francis; two brother, Tommy Wheeler of Kentucky and Forest Wheeler of Malden.

Beside her husband, Richard and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David McClain and Richard Spence II.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022 at the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden will be in charge of the arrangements.
