Tom Green of Malden, Missouri died August 31, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Sr., his mother, Dolly, his brother Otto, and his sisters Naomi, Mmae and Joyce.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Tom Green was born in 1933 on a farm in Dunklin County, Missouri.  Tom was the youngest of the five children of Tom Sr. and Dolly Green.

Like his brother and sisters, Tom went to a country school when he was young.  There is an old photo of Tom, his brother Otto and sisters Naomi, Mmae and Joyce,  standing in front of that school with their teacher and classmates.  Tom and his brother and sisters were wearing overalls.  They had work to do before and after school. Their father died when they were young and the responsibility of making ends meet was shared by everyone in the family. In later life, Tom cared for his mother, Dolly, known to her grandchildren as "Mom Green". He always remained a devoted son.

Tom never stopped working hard for the rest of his life.  Every accomplishment Tom had was the result of his willingness to work hard and follow through on his goals. He worked his way through college selling magazines with his sister Joyce and their friend Jim Shipley. Then he joined the Army and was stationed in New Orleans.  After his stint in the military, Tom returned to college and received a Master's Degree in Education.

Later, Tom and his high school friend, Slick Miller, started a long-distance trucking company. They built a successful business together. Eleven years and thousands of cross-country miles later, Tom and Slick retired, and purchased a horse farm.

Eventually, Tom found his way back into the world of work when he accepted a position as supervisor of a huge grain elevator on the Mississippi River, where he worked with his good friends, Ronny Stewart and Bobby Bennett.

Tom valued his family and friends. Tom's soul was gentle, steady and strong.  May he rest in peace.

A service was held for Tom Green on September 9, 2019, at the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, where he is interred.
