Obituary

Shirley Ann Blades, 88 of Rolla, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Parkside Assisted Living in Rolla, Missouri.

Shirley, daughter of John Edward and Leota Belle Tuttle Hunt was born on Tuesday, September 8, 1936 in Malden, Missouri.

Shirley was artist who enjoyed china painting and drawing with pencil and chalk. She also enjoyed gardening and was very passionate about animals and loved her dogs dearly. Shirley thoroughly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She worked as an office manager at a medical clinic and was of the Christian Faith.


Her survivors include, daughter, Nancy Jo Blades Strassner and husband, Keith of Rolla, MO; son, David Ray Blades and wife, JoAnne of Tulsa, OK; two grandchildren, Emily Endsley and husband, Nick of St.Charles, MO and David Strassner and fiancé, Katie Bohannan of Tempe, AZ.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberli Ann Blades; brother, John Edward Hunt, Jr. and sister, Bettie Hunt Campbell.


Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024 at Landess Funeral Home in Malden, Missouri, funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m., with Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Rolla Animal Shelter.
