Gideon ~ Shirley Deweese, 86 of Gideon, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at her residence in Gideon, Missouri.

Shirley, daughter of David Ozro Midkiff and Carie Turner Midkiff Berry was born on Tuesday, November 1, 1938 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

She was a Teacher's Aide at school for 3 or 4 years; Secretary of an Insurance Company for 10 years and worked at Dr. Bess' office for 3 or 4 years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.

On May 24, 1957 in Clarkton, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Orval Deweese.  He preceded her in death on March 23, 2012.

Her survivors include two daughters, Regina Schaffer of Gideon, Stacy Whitfield and husband, Don of Kennett; grandchildren, Jillian Schaffer Dyersburg, Tennessee, Kelsey Gottschalk and Nic of Mineola, Florida, Zachary Schaffer and Dalton Whitfield both of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Lorelei Gottschalk and Scarlet Gottschalk; nieces, Shirlene Stark, Jenese Sparks; nephews, David O. Midkiff, Larry Midkiff, John Midkiff and Gary Colegrove.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karol Jane Garris; sister, Burness Stark; brothers, David Midkiff, W.N. Midkiff; niece, Alice Midkiff and nephews, Billy Midkiff.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Gideon, Missouri.  Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Gideon with Reverend Ray Shreckengost and Reverend Randy DeProw officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens in Kennett, Missouri.
