Dexter ~ Richard W. Carmack, 73 of Dexter, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Campbell Healthcare & Senior Living in Campbell, Missouri.

Richard, son of Roy and Zella Terrett Carmack, was born on Thursday, February 8, 1951 in Scott County, Missouri.

He retired from Unilever Ice Cream Plant in Sikeston and was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War.

On July 5, 1997 in Sikeston, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Betty Haavisto.  She survives.

Other survivors include step-children, Mary Bozell of Dexter, David McKay of Jackson, Darrell McKay of Dexter; grandchildren, Cooper McKay and Caston McKay both of Jackson and Melora McKay, Emilia McKay and Conner McKay all of Dexter; sisters, Debbie McAtee of Poplar Bluff, Sharon McAtee of Advance; brothers, Danny Carmack of Morehouse, Troy Carmack of Mississippi, Don Carmack of Granite City, Illinois and Larry Carmack of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob Carmack and Lee Carmack; sisters, Helen Ebbs and Theresa Carmack.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Campbell are in charge of the arrangements.
