Obituary

Holcomb ~ Phyllis Jean Clayton, 77 of Holcomb, formerly of Campbell, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at her daughter's residence in Holcomb, Missouri.

Phyllis, daughter of Barney Kenneth Singer and Maxine Marshall Ivy, was born on Monday, November 1, 1943 in Washington, DC.

She was a cook for the nursing home and was a member of the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Malden.

On July 14, 1984, in Campbell, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Max Clayton.  He preceded her in death on December 31, 2011.

Her survivors include four daughters, Joyce Cowart and husband, James of Poplar Bluff, Deborah Ward and husband, Ricky and Dawn Ward and husband, Ronald all of Holcomb, Sharon McKinney and husband, Russ of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Mark Clayton and wife, Rita of Bernie; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jenna King of Park Hills, Missouri.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Keith Mitchell; two brothers, Kenneth Robert Singer and Danny Paul Singer and one niece, Mary Ann Hinkle.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Malden, with services beginning at 2 p.m., with Brother Jerry Adams officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell will be in charge of the arrangements.
