Opotra Lee Porter (Note)
Opotra Porter (Note) was born September 1, 1949 in Parma, MO to the union of Roosevelt and Katherine Davis. Opotra was the 9th child born to this union. Opotra accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful worker at her church, Macedonia Missionary Baptist in Malden serving as a church choir member, WMU member, Secretary of Prayer Ministry, Secretary of Usher Board, Secretary of Mission, Secretary of the District, District choir member, member of the Spiritual Voices and on the Decorating Committee.
On Friday, July 19th, 2024 God called Opotra home where she was welcomed by her parents, Roosevelt and Katherine Davis, five brothers, Roosevelt Davis Jr., Robert Lee Davis, Thomas Gaitor, Scotty Davis, and James Davis and one sister, Marie Robinson.
She Leaves to Cherish, her husband, Elbert Porter of Malden; three children, James Davis (Deon) of Nasvhille, TN, Louquisha Heartfield of Cape Girardeau and Harold White, Jr. (Maura) of Poplar Bluff; step-son, Elbert Porter, Jr. (Beverly) of Kansas City, Kansas; two step-daughters, Evelyn Porter of Cape Girardeau and Tammy Rose (Mike) of Kansas City, Kansas; five brothers, Melvin Davis (Pauline) of Hammond, Jimmy Davis (Janie) of Hammond, IN, Edward Davis of St. Louis, Tommy Davis of St. Louis and John Davis of Malden; one sister, Rose Walker of Malden; two special sisters, Mary Brown and Bernice Wilson of Malden; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Opotra wanted her family to stay close, be there for one another and she is truly going to be missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 27th, 2024, 12:00 P.M. at the Malden Community Center with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jay Slaughter officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Malden, MO. Repass will be held at Malden Community Center. Landess Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of Arrangements.
