Mavelene Hicks, 84, of Chesterfield, Missouri, previously of Malden, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Surrey Place in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Mavelene was born Friday, February 27, 1942, in Kennett, Missouri, to the late Leonard and Opal Carter Collier.

Mavelene worked at Brown Shoe in Bernie and was a member of the Bernie Church of the Nazarene.

On August 16, 1962, in Malden, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Hershel Lloyd Hicks. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2002.

Her survivors include two daughters, Teresa Hoffman and husband Wayne of Oak Ridge, Missouri and Pam Helgeson and husband Dave of Sisseton, South Dakota; two sons, Billy Hicks and wife Donna of St. Louis, Missouri, and Hershel Joseph Hicks and wife Jennifer of Kennett, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Hampton of Columbia, Missouri and Vicki of Florida and one brother, Tommy Collier of Florida.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Jones; three brothers, Tony, Jackie, and Ricky Collier; and four sisters, Dean West, Pauline O’Neal, Debbie Cook, and Juanita.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Henry Shelly officiating.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri.
