Matthew Ryan Smith or Matthew "FattMatt" Smith was born on Wednesday, February 23, 1977 in Kennett, Missouri to Donna Smith Eller. He departed this life on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie Missouri at the age of 47 years, 3 months and 13 days.

Matthew worked as a welder for Arcosa in Caruthersville, Missouri and attended church at The United Voice of Zion in Malden.  He was united in marriage to Tammy McElvoy Smith on December 17, 2007 in Bloomfield, Missouri. She survives.

His other survivors include, mother, Donna Eller of Kennett, MO; daughter, Brandi Haley and husband Justin of Malden, MO; grandson, Nolen Haley; brother, Marcus McGuirk of Kennett, MO; sister, Carrianna Dooley and husband Harley of Malden, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family.

He was preceded in death by one grandmother, Callie Ann Eubanks, one grandfather, Harvey Eubanks, two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Landess Funeral Home in Malden. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with Reverend Roger Fowler officiating.
