Poplar Bluff ~ Mary Jo Drum, 84 of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff

Mary Jo, daughter of Andrew T. and Agnes A. Brady Barrett, was born on Monday, January 27, 1936 in Campbell,

Mary Jo showed academic achievement throughout her life that lead to her being the valedictorian of her class in 1954   She received a BSE and a Master of Rehab Counseling from Arkansas State University.  In 1979 she received her license to practice psychology in the State of Missouri.    In 1984 she became National Board Certified. She devoted most of her career to education where she retired from the Poplar Bluff School district.   She made many lifelong friends with the people she worked with and students she counseled through the years. She attended the New Life Christian Church in Poplar Bluff.

On February 3, 1973, in Advance, she was united in marriage to James Caldwell Drum.  He preceded her in death on July 31, 2001.

Her survivors include three step-sons, Lex Drum of Birmingham, Alabama, Ramey Drum of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Rob Drum of Birmingham, Alabama; ten grandchildren; two cousins, Carmelita Harvell of Campbell, Gloria Castleberry of Poplar Bluff; closest friend, Fran Glastetter of Paducah, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rose Marie Barrett; uncle, Gene Barrett and cousin, Donnie Gale Brady

Visitation will begin at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, Mary 27, 2020 at the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell. Graveside services beginning at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Harwell officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association; Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri, PO Box 647, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901 and Children's Home Inc., 5515 Walcott Rd, Paragould, AR  72450.

Landess of Campbell will be in charge of the arrangements.
