Marty Powers, "Governor of Campbell", passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 60 years, 3 months, and 23 days. Also known as "The Tomato Man", Marty was an Entrepreneur and a Jack of all trades. He served as President of the Board for Bootheel Area Independent Living Services, Inc. and was a member of the Church of Christ in Malden.
Martin Van Powers was born on Wednesday, November 3, 1965 to Tommy Lynn Powers and Judy Ann Self Powers. They both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Marcus Aaron Powers and a nephew, Slayton Lynn George.
His survivors include: Sisters, Marenda Powers McGinley and husband Kenny McGinley of Portageville, Missouri and Judith Powers George and husband Brian George of Park Hills, Missouri; Nieces, Kaileigh McGinley, Morgan McGinley, and Baileigh George; and nephew, Stockton George.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, March 6, 2026 at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Mr. Craig Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood 1st Addition Cemetery in Malden. Serving as pallbearers will be: Cale Weeks, Ray Davis, Ben Weeks, Kenny Bledsoe, Kerry Davis, and Eric Weeks. Landess Funeral Home of Campbell is in charge of the arrangements.
