Campbell ~ Martha Ruth Like, 81 of Campbell, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her residence in Campbell, Missouri.

Martha, daughter of James Arthur and Lois Elizabeth Truelove Carpenter, was born on Tuesday, May 26, 1942 in Etowah, Arkansas.

Martha retired from the Midsouth, chapter of the American Red Cross as the Director of disaster services. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.  She served as board member on the Campbell housing authority and also, the Woodlawn Cemetery Association and was involved with the Campbell alumni reunion committee.  She donated to many charities, including the Campbell high school student scholarship program.  The two most important things to her were God and family.  She loved to cook and spending time with her family and friends, and reading her Bible daily and was a caretaker for many family members, including her mother.

On December 1, 1959 in Campbell, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Leo R. Like.  He preceded her in death on September 10, 2002.

Her survivors include one son, Leo R. Like, Jr. and wife, Scarlett of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Carrie Tarrance and husband, Kenny of Memphis, Tennessee, Donna Sue England and husband, David of Walls, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Nita Like (Carlos), Leo R. Like III (Maddie), Demi England; two great-grandchildren,  Lillian Like, Avery Like; two brothers, Doyle Carpenter, Mike Carpenter (Virginia) and one sister, LaWanda Roudebush (Peter).

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Carpenter, Dan Carpenter and one sister, Mary Lou Nau.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Missouri, with services beginning at 11 a.m. with Reverend Marty Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell, Missouri.
