Lawanda Vannasdall was born on Sunday, February 1, 1948 in Campbell, Missouri to the late Charlie Edward McGill and Emily Esther Swinney McGill.  She departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Delta South Nursing Care and Rehab in Sikeston, Missouri.  Lawanda was a homemaker and a member of Stokelan Drive Christian Church in Malden.

On November 6, 1965 in Campbell, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George Clinton Vannasdall, Jr.  He preceded her in death on December 17, 1997.  Also, preceding her in death were her parents, and two brothers, Rick McGill and Ray McGill.

Her survivors include:  son, Clinton Vannasdall and wife Angie of Parma; daughter, Lena Poyner and husband Michael of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Valerie Vannasdall, Alicia Ramsey, Clinton Vannasdall, Jr., Megan Watkins, Stephanie Peacock, and Anna Poyner; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Thacker of Malden and Belinda Lauer of St. Louis; two brothers, Jerry McGill of Poplar Bluff and Bill McGill of Texas.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Landess Funeral Home in Malden.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Mr. Michael Simmons officiating.   Interment will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton.
