Obituary

Laura Jean Luke, 91, of Malden, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri. Laura, daughter of Cecil Grey and Alta Charlotte Sturgeon Mincey, was born on Wednesday, January 20, 1932, in Malden, Missouri.

On July 3, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Andy Herman Luke. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2009.

Laura was a professional seamstress, cosmetologist, and homemaker for five sons. She was a wonderful cook, raised extensive gardens, and canned unknown volumes of garden vegetables. She was also a former Eastern Star and Snider Extension Club member.

Laura had a strong faith in Jesus all her life. She and her husband, Herman, sang gospel music in quartets for some years and served most of her life in Lone Oak General Baptist Church near Malden. Laura led the church kitchen committee, responsible for fellowship socials and funeral dinners. She sang in the church choir, played in Easter pageants, sewed costumes for pageants, worked in vacation Bible schools, helped put together the Lone Oak Cookbook, and served in the Women's Missionary Society and many additional capacities.

Her survivors include four sons: Ricky Luke and wife Debra Kay, Keith Luke and wife Gail, Kent Luke and wife Debbie Lee, and Todd Luke and wife Lana; eight grandchildren, Courtney Love and husband Kody, Chad Luke and wife Sara, Christiana Allen, Gary Luke, Andy Luke and wife Anna, Amy Cruise and husband Scott, Aaron Luke and wife Erika, and Gavin Luke; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Luke, and grandson, Steven Ray Luke.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, with services following at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Keith Luke and Reverend Chad Luke officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Malden will be in charge of the arrangements.
