Obituary

Clarkton ~ Joseph Oris Thornberry, 84 of Clarkton, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Missouri.

Joseph, son of William Thomas and Emma Elizabeth Wicoff Thornberry, was born on Monday, March 3, 1941 in Holcomb, Missouri.

He was a lifetime farmer and was a member of the Stanfield Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkton, Missouri.

On December 6, 1959 in Holcomb, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Donna Fay Williams.  She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Iris Ann Cates (William Rickie) of Clarkton, Melba Geneva Bishop (Eddie) of Halls, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Jessica Friese, Joseph Cates, Donna Brown, Larry Cronan, Jr., James Lee Thornberry, Oris Thornberry, Levi Thornberry, Twyla Juarez; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Rudisill and special nephew, Hosea Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Don Thornberry; sisters, Dorothy Harty, Elaine Day; brothers, William Harold Thornberry and James Henry Thornberry.

Visitation will be from 6 – 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Missouri.  Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Reverend Vance Turner and Reverend Tony Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Missouri.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Campbell are in charge of the arrangements.
