Savannah, Tennessee ~ Jerrie David Hill, age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2021.  He was the son of Lois Boweres Hill and General Baptist Pastor William Hill of Malden, MO., where he grew up and attended school with his brother, Joe. Jerrie was active in athletics, playing basketball in college, and when he entered the Army was a part of their athletic team, entertaining the troops overseas.

Jerrie married Rita Parker and they had 3 children, who survive:  Beth Pedroza and David Scott Hill both of Bakersfield, California and William Paul Hill of Portland, Oregon. They blessed him with grandchildren: David, Daniel, Denay, Jordan and Zachary and several great-grandchildren.

Jerrie and his second wife, Bonnie Allen Zimmerman were happily married for 34 years, and her children and grandchildren were blessed to be a part of his family too.  They include Teresa and Greg Martin, of Adamsville, Tennessee, their children, Amanda Kiernan, and Michelle Richardson, with their spouses, and Deandra and Robert Worley of Columbia, Missouri, their children Elizabeth Worley and Benjamin Worley, his spouse, Gabrielle, and their children.

Jerrie was an avid runner for years, with the goal of running 1,000 miles a year.  He ran marathons even after suffering a stroke.  His love for running was contagious and Bonnie entered in 5k runs with him.

He loved to joke and sing and loved music.  He was always ready to hear his wife, Bonnie, play the piano and sing.  When people would come to visit, they would get a special song that he reserved for visitors sung to them "I'll Be Glad When You're Gone".

Jerrie was a great salesman. He sold Kirby vacuum cleaners for years, as well as Rascal electric scooters and portraits for Olan Mills. When salespeople would call his house, he would always tell them "You are doing a fine job" because he said he knew it was hard and he wanted to be kind.

Jerrie's most important work was laboring for the Lord.  He served in mission work for years in Bakersfield, CA, and in later years in South Carolina as a counselor for a ministry for drug rehabilitation.  Even when he was not officially working in ministry or missions, he was always looking for a time and a way to witness, always ready to ask: "Do you know the Lord?"  He liked to keep business cards handy which detailed the plan of salvation and was always ready to hand them out.

He will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Hill.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday September 16, 2021 at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at the funeral chapel with Brother Ron Carlson officiating.  Interment to follow at Elder Cemetery in Campbell, Missouri.
