Javiel Marcel Cooper, 28 of Malden was called home on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Javiel Marcel Cooper, the son of Lisa Cooper and Jamal Williams was born Monday, November 11, 1996 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Javiel was five years old when he and his mother, Lisa moved to Malden, where he was raised. Javiel grew up playing sports. He excelled in many sports including Track and Field, but especially football. He received many honors while playing football for the Malden Green Wave. (Go Green Wave!) 1st Team All State O-Line and D-Line 2015, South Division All Conference, South Division 2014-2015 and 1st Team All Regional (3 Years). He helped The Green Wave win the District Championship in the 2014-2015 season. He also held on the in highest ranks in ROTC, Cadet Colonel.
Javiel went to college at Missouri Valley where he majored in Sports and Business Management and played football for three years until he sustained an injury that no longer allowed him to play. After college, Javiel worked at Rhodes in Malden, then later worked with special needs patients at Family Matters. Following his employment with Family Matters, he was employed at Tyson's for four years as an fork lift operator. When Tyson's shut down, he went to work at Alan Wire where he was a material handler.
Javiel leaves to mourn, his mother, Lisa Cooper of Malden; father, Jamal Williams of Malden; children, Jeremiah Burton of Cape Girardeau, Sylas Cooper and Star Cooper of Malden; sister Ny'aisha Baker; brother, Jamal Williams. Jr. of Malden; grandfather, Floyd Hardy of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandmothers, Sarah Cooper of Malden and Lavern Williams of Benton Harbor, Michigan; aunts, Hope Cooper of Alabama, Marcy (Ervin) Wilson, Elisha (Kevin) Halyard of Fort Worth, Texas, Michele (Marty) Ray of Indianapolis, Indiana, Anitra (Sanchez) Harden of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Tisha Gibbs of of Menifee, California; uncles, Leon Cooper of Osceola, Arkansas, Alex Cooper of Dallas, Texas, Dontae Young and Damion Williams of Benton Harbor, Michigan.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Miracle Williams; great-grandmother, Baby Ruth Cooper; grandfathers, Michey Williams, Leon Spanks, uncle, Johnny (Jay) Lee Williams III; aunt, Alice Hodges and cousins, Javial Hodges and Kaden Cooper.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2025 at New Beginning Christian Church in Malden. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Samuel Pulley officiating.
