Jan Mauldin Cowart was born on Thursday, October 9, 1941 in Malden, Missouri to the late Maurine Nichols Stewart and James Daniels.  She departed this life on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Aspire Senior Living Center in Malden at the age of 85 years and 13 days.  Jan graduated from Gideon High School and then attended business college.  She later assisted in opening the Malden Wal-Mart and served as the service desk supervisor until her retirement. She also was a member of the Malden American Legion and was of the Baptist faith.  Jan Daniels was married to Sam Mauldin and then later married to Joe Cowart.  He preceded her in death on May 2, 2006.    Also preceding her in death were her parents and an infant sister.

Her survivors include:  daughter, Shawna Glueck and husband Donnie of Gordonville, MO; son, Kevin Mauldin and wife Renia of Malden; grandchildren, Jo Wick and husband Christopher of Olathe, KS; Kyle Mauldin of Malden; Audrey McCallister and husband Brandon of Jackson, MO; Shawna and Donnie's family, Johnathan Glueck and wife Nikki and their children, Gavin, Evan, and Owen Glueck; great grandchildren, Madalyn Edmonds, Alexander Wick, Kathryn Wick, and Christian Wick; sisters, Karen Stokes, and Mae Beth Wessell; and brothers, Stan Stewart, Jr., Dennis Stewart, and Mark Stewart.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon on  Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.  The funeral service will follow at 2 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Mr. James Powell officiating.  Interment will be in Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
