James Russel Barks of Harviell, Missouri, formerly of Malden,departed this life on Sunday December 22, 2024 at Cedargate Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

James was born on Monday February 21, 1944 in Matthews, Missouri to Ruben Barks and Alma Maxine Evans Barks.  He served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.  James retired in 2002 as a long haul truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.

On December 22, 1973, James Russel Barks was united in marriage to Lois Ann Duck in Malden, Missouri.  She survives.  Other survivors include:  sons, Kenneth Ray Barks and wife Morgan and Dustin Wayne Barks and wife Hollie all of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Lawson Ray Barks, Landon Cole Barks, Madilyn Annette Barks, Raylan James Barks, Liam Wayne Barks; and one sister, Shirley Barks Mallett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Russel Barks, Jr., two sisters, Yvonne Barks James and Glenda Barks Jones, and one brother, Bob Ray Barks.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, Thursday December 26, 2024 at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Thursday December 26, 2024 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Revered Richard Blagg officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
