Elmer James Clark, son of the late Sullivan Clark, Jr. and Minnie Pryor Clark, was born in Charleston, Missouri on Wednesday, March 27, 1957.  He was one in a family of 12 children, 8 boys and 4 girls.

Elmer was an all-around person.  Everyone loved him and he wasn't a stranger to anyone.  He grew up in Essex, Missouri.  He farmed for over 30 years.  Before farming he was an employee on the Sperry Rail Service in Danbury, Connecticut. He worked on his own farm with his dad, farmed with the Robinson before joining the Stuever Farm, most of his farming years were with the Stuever Farm working alongside Jim and Joe.

Elmer confessed Christ as his savior at an early age, was baptized and joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Grayridge, Missouri.  Serving God was a joy for him and his last church membership was the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Malden, Missouri, where he served on the deacon board and helped on the finance committee.

On Saturday, August 21, 2021, while a patient at the St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, God dispatched an Angel to bring the soul of his weary servant home at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 25 days.

He leaves to cherish fond memories; his loving and devoted wife of nearly 30 years, Ida Clark of the Home.  His mother, Minnie Clark of Essex; four daughters, Renetha (Tim) Booker of St. Louis, Laticia (Anthony) Robinson of Cape Girardeau, Michelle Clark of Jackson, Tennessee, Carrie Brooks of St. Louis; one God daughter, Shamarra Burrage of Malden; two sons, Kyrus Rodgers of Cape Girardeau, Marcus Benford of Malden; six grandchildren; seven brothers, Willie (Ann) Clark, Charles (Lucille) Clark, Sonny Clark III and Mitchell Clark all of Sikeston, Johnny Clark of Dallas, Texas, Gaylon (Eileen) Clark of Malden, Mark Clark of New Mexico, Missouri; four sisters, Faye Hampton and Florence (LC) Shaw all of Sikeston, Pat Clark of Poplar Bluff and Kelly (Tarieque) Gill of Cape Girardeau and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sullivan Clark Jr. and one grandson, Tay Richardson.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at United Pentecostal Church of Malden with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m., with Reverend Jay Slaughter officiating.  Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Malden.

The family is requiring everyone who attends the service wear a mask.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden will be in charge of the arrangements.
