Obituary

Elizabeth "Ibby" Riley Haskins, 82, a lifelong resident of Malden, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her. Ibby was born August 8, 1942, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Known for her kind heart, sharp wit, and a love of church dinners, Ibby was a beloved member of the community. Ibby never met a stranger and was always busy with church events, writing to friends and family, and attending bingo at the American Legion. She had a lifelong affection for all things related to Elvis and visits to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee brought her great joy.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia K. Hunter of Franklin, Tennessee; her nephew, John Bostic (Mary Beth) of Katy, Texas; her niece, Courtney Hunter Gilmer (Brantley) of Brentwood, Tennessee; and her nephew, John Howard Hunter II (Jessica) of Dexter, Missouri as well as her great nieces and nephews Brian, Madeline Ann, Graham, Riley, Emerson, and Johnny. Ibby was also blessed with a lifelong friendship with Lynn Woolverton of Malden, Missouri, who stood by her side through all of life's seasons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Verda Haskins; her sister, Ann Bostic; and her niece, Sue Bostic.

An animal lover, Ibby cared for a number of cats, including her favorite, Blacky, who will no doubt miss her gentle presence and unwavering care.

A celebration of life will be held on April 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Malden United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ibby's honor to either the Malden Museum or the Malden Nutrition Center. Ibby volunteered at the Malden Museum for many years and loved to enjoy a nutritious meal and a game of bingo with friends at the Nutrition Center each week. The family is grateful for the opportunities and friendships both the Museum and Nutrition Center provided to Ibby over the years.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory in Malden are in charge of the arrangements.
