Dorothy June
Majors
Jun 5, 1921 — Jun 11, 2022
Dorothy June Majors, 101, formerly of Campbell, MO. went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Auburn Creek Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau, MO.
She was born June 5, 1921 under a tree along the Canadian River in Oklahoma, because her family was migrant workers at the time. She was the youngest child of Eliphus and Minnie Prater.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Campbell for over 72 years, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and led WMU and Training Union, along with many other church activities. If the church door was open, she was there. Her love of the Lord was evident to all.
Dorothy married Hallett O. Majors on December 27, 1937 in Hayti, MO. He died on February 16, 1991. She was a gifted seamstress, making garments and costumes for many people in the Campbell area. She taught Special Education at Malden, MO elementary school until her retirement in 1986. After retirement she enjoyed painting landscapes and quilt making. Many people are proud owners of one of Miss Dorothy's quilts. She was a very generous person who loved to cook large feasts for her family and many friends. She gave wholeheartedly, especially her "bear hugs".
She is survived by her son, Hal (Bonnie) Majors of Cape Girardeau, MO, three grandchildren: Summer (Chad) Halter and their children, Claire, Vaugh, Gwen, Mercy, and Judah of Jackson, MO; Carson (Elle) Majors and their children, Drea, Jett, and Zeke of Toronto, Canada; Tyler Majors of Port Charlotte, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church in Campbell on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, beginning at 10:00 AM, with the service to follow at 11:30 AM. Marty Carlyle, her former pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be given to First Baptist Church, 815 Allen Road, Campbell, MO. 63933.
