Obituary

Dorothy Comellia Green went home to Heaven on May 8, 2026 at the Age of 96, in the Winchester nursing home in Bernie, Missouri. She passed peacefully after a short nursing home stay surrounded by love and family who loved her deeply. We are saddened but know she is in Heaven with Jesus.

Dorothy was born to Ugenia "Genie" and Charles (Hustan) Shrum of Doniphan, Missouri.

Dorothy married her first husband, the late JB Haynes on November 25, 1944, they went on to have 6 children: Shelby Lewis (Richard) of Campbell, Missouri ; Diane McIntosh (Ronnie) of Lake Wappapello, Missouri; Sheryl James (Ronnie) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Thelma Colbert (Joe) of Campbell, Missouri; Tony Haynes (Debbie) of Dexter, Missouri and  Connie Haynes (Debbie) of Dexter Missouri. They were married for 56 years.

Dorothy met her second husband, her love, Acy Green and they married on October 23, 2007. They shared a fun life of music, dancing, singing and traveling, they were dedicated to family and friends. They loved the LORD and loved attending the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church in Fisk, Missouri. Dorothy was the love of his life. He called her Songbird

Dorothy was a hard worker her whole life, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, she loved to sing and dance, music was a love her family shared for many years, She was a collector of many clocks! She loved her home, she had a huge heart, her memory was like a treasure box, full of never ending dates and a lifetime of information….she was an amazing woman!

Dorothy joins her daughters Shelby Lewis and Thelma Colbert; sons Tony Haynes, Connie Haynes and grandson, Roger Dale Lewis in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane McIntosh (Ronnie) Lake Wappapello, Missouri and Sheryl James (Ronnie) Cape Girardeau, Missouri and sister, Virginia (Sissy) Ozbun of Doniphan, Missouri. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy was the loving step mother to Delinda (Dennis) Casey, Michelle (Kevin) Williams, two step granddaughters, Allison Papak, and Crystal (John) Papak-Kasper, and a great grandson on the way.

Dorothy was a source of love, kindness and worth to everyone who knew her, she will be deeply missed and forever be remembered.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell, Missouri, with Pastor Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri.
