Chad Dean Hartsfield

Chad Dean Hartsfield, 56, passed away on September 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Chad was born on May 31, 1970, in Kennett, Missouri, to Norma and Calvin Hartsfield.  He grew up in Malden, Missouri, before making Northwest Arkansas his home in 2014.  He absolutely loved Northwest Arkansas-not only for its beauty, but for the community and of course the Razorbacks.  

Chad's career was centered in the mortgage industry.  To Chad it was so much more than a career.  He built lasting relationships with countless people and was deeply invested in the people he served.

At the heart of Chad's life was his family, and especially the life he shared with his wife, Terra.  Chad and Terra were married for 20 years.  Their marriage was deeply rooted in faith, love, and devotion.  Their life together was filled with travel, laughter, faith, and countless memories.

In the days surrounding his passing, friends and loved ones have shared stories of how Chad helped lead them to God, strengthened their faith, encouraged them to become better men and women, and inspired them to live differently.  He had a gift for making people feel seen, loved, encouraged, and capable of becoming something more.  He did not simply tell people what he believed-he lived it in a way that made other people want to know the God he loved.  His faith was the foundation on which he built his life and the source of strength that carried him and his family through the years.

The people who knew Chad best knew that some of his greatest joy came from his grandkids.  He absolutely loved being their Pops, and the love he shared with them will remain a lasting part of who they are.  

Chad had a particularly special relationship with his mother, Norma.  He was, unapologetically, a mama's boy, and he loved his mom deeply.  That love remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.  

Chad is survived by his wife, Terra Hartsfield; his children, Taylor Todd (Josh Todd), Hayden Brady, Ashton Hartsfield (Nick Plumlee), and Dustin Hartsfield; his mother, Norma Hartsfield; his brother, Clay Hartsfield (Brooke Hartsfield); his nieces, Jessica Hartsfield and Lacey Winchester (Tommy Winchester); his grandchildren, Owen, Emilyn, Karina, Kobe, and Kennedy; along with his extended family and many friends who loved him dearly.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Hartsfield.

Chad leaves behind a life rooted in faith, family, perseverance, adventure, and love.  His legacy lives on not only in the family he loved so deeply, but in the many people who became better versions of themselves because Chad was part of their lives.
