Passed away October 9th at her home in Eaton Rapids at the age of 89. She was born August 27 in Bernie, Missouri, the seventh child of Arthur and Lula (Veatch) Summers. She grew up in Missouri and later the family moved to Michigan where she graduated from Pontiac High School. She married John A. Douglass in Richardson, Texas on November 6, 1953.  John's job allowed them to travel around the world living in Turkey, Italy, California, Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and Missouri.  Betty was a homemaker, mother and in later life a Real Estate agent with Walter Neller, Vollmer and Moore Jensen.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband John A. Douglass, 4 brothers Leroy, Chester, Malcomb and Dale Summers and 2 sisters Freda Thornton and Beulah Summers. She is survived by her daughters Ellen (James) Harmon and Kimberly Douglass of Eaton Rapids, Son Michael (Jane) Douglass of Kalamazoo,five Grandchildren, Amanda(Ben) Vandlen, Paul(Ashley)Harmon, Timothy(Nicole)Harmon, David Douglass and Ian Douglass and three Great Grand daughers Leah and Reagan Vandlen and Nora Harmon. She is also survived by her sister Viola Lockwood, sister in law Mary Summers and High School friend Marilyn Fritz.

Funeral service for Betty will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Skinner Funeral home in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held for at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, MO.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Heart and Hands in Eaton Rapids, MI or the Alzheimer Association in Betty's memory.
