Bessie M. Mathies-Hill (Bess), was born to Myrtle Billops-Mathies and AB Mathies in Canalou, Missouri April 25,1956. Bess was a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, life partner, caregiver, homemaker and so much more. She always had a calling to be there for others and help those in need. Bess was a rock and a walking angel to so many while on this earth. Her body leaves this earth but she will forever live on in our hearts.

She leaves behind  her life partner Leander "Hambone" Porter , one son Karem Junius Hill, two daughters, Leonisha Donita Mathies-Clayton, and Amilya Bianca Mathies. She also leaves behind her two God children Benjamin (Benji) Eddings and Shanell McClure. She leaves behind her best friend, Martha McClure of Sikeston, Missouri and her very close cousin almost like a brother to her Cousin Michael Bennet of Elkhart, Indiana. Bess leaves behind five grandsons Kaceshus Hill Jr., Marquis Carter, NeKamren Hill , Justice Smith, and Frank Tillman. She also leaves behind 7 granddaughters Infinity Mathies, Shusecka Hill-McCoy, Serenity Mathies, Trinity Clayton, Cylesett Hill, Kascity Hill, and Sharrae Hill, two bonus granddaughter Lashawnda (Missy Pooh) Hill and Olivia Kemp.  Bess also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren Za'Den McCoy, Caden  Hall, Corderio (KJ) Clark, Noa McCoy, Winter Britton,Rhylea McCoy, Maddison Carter, Ra'Liyah Cotton, Roman McCoy, Ulani Valley, and DeLayah "LayLay"Anderson.

Bess also leaves behind six sisters Minnie Purdy, Lillie Mathies, Essie McCaster, Roberta Mathies-Saddler, Brenda (Jessie "Peroni") Porter, Debra Mathies, four bonus sisters Ernestine Murphy, Hattie Tillman, Rose(Nathaniel) Green, Regina "Punkin" (Ronald) Carney, two brothers Claude (Joyce Ann) Robinson, Jimmie Robinson, two bonus brothers Larry "Sunny" Robinson (Emma Cook), Lewis Robinson. She also leaves behind 10 sister-in-loves  Carolyn Mathies, Lori Robinson, Lottie (May) Cain, Susie Cooper, Rosie Reed, The smith sisters(Barbra, Edna, Betty, Patricia, Nollie), 11 brother -in-loves The Porter & Reed  brothers (Edward, Wilbur, Peroni, LV, and Billy), The Smith brothers (Harold, Dale, Ronald, Robert, Willie, Charles). Lastly, she leaves behind heap of  God- grandchildren , friends, cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.  Bess left this earth physically  on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the age of  69 years old; but she will forever be in our hearts. Bess was preceded in death by her son, Kaceshus Monvell Hill Sr., father AB Mathies, mother Myrtle Billops-Mathies, two mother-in-laws  Willie Smith and Bernice (Sista) Porter, ex-husband Gary Hill, 3 sisters Geraldine (Jeri) Hill, Nora Cain, Pauline (Judy) Robinson, and 3 brothers Al Mathies, Garry "Michi" Robinson, and Johnny Ray Mathies. She also is preceded in death by Virginia "Gene" Robinson and many aunts and uncles from both of her parents.

The funeral service will begin at 11 AM Sunday November 9, 2025 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Minister Joe McClure officiating.  Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Malden. Funeral arrangements and services entrusted to Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
