Bertha Mae Winchester, daughter of the late Lillie Kathleen Hoard Brooks and Herman Sterling Brooks, was born on Saturday, January 26, 1952 in Neelyville, Missouri.  She departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2026 at her residence in Malden at the age of 74 years, 6 months, and 19 days.  Bertha was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending quality time with her loving family.  

On November 13, 1972, Bertha Mae Brooks was united in marriage to Larry Dale Winchester in Gideon, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on March 1, 2006.  Also preceding her in death were:  her parents; one sister, Viola Brooks; and two brothers, Larry Brooks and James Brooks.  

Her survivors include:  daughter, Sarah Winchester; granddaughter, Gracie Cravens; sister, Virginia Davidson, all of Malden; and one brother, Jerry Brooks of Tallapoosa. 

Visitation will begin at 1 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Landess Funeral Home in Malden.  The funeral service will follow at 2 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden, with Reverend William Hill officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Clarkton.  Serving as pallbearers will be:  Travis Brooks, Donnie Brooks, Kelvin Davidson, Jerry Brooks, Tim Pinkston, and Butch Woodall.    Landess Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
